INDUSTRIAL PAINTER / ABRASIVE BLASTER
THE COMPANY
A major Engineering and Construction company involved in some of Australia’s major infrastructure projects including schools, tunnels and roadways; and commercial projects such as new apartments complexes, aged care villages and retail hubs
Within a large 2000sqm factory located near Parramatta running round the clock, they provide a full suite of services across design and fabrication, structural welding and complete site installation including all crane and plant operations
THE ROLE
With an abundance of work ahead and 24-hour operations, regular Casual employment opportunties exist for quality applicants
Tenures are between a few days and a few months, with both Day & Night shifts available, and Saturday Work
This work will suit those on FIFO type rosters with gaps to fill in their schedule, or those seeking short term, full time contracts
- Working independently in a purpose built environment within the workshop, you will be responsible for surface preparation or applying coatings to fabricated steel products, ready for installation
- Prepare surfaces using abrasive blasting methods, removing rust, scale, old coatings and contaminants
- Select appropriate blasting materials and equipment for specific projects, ensuring surface profiles meet required specifications
- Mix and apply primers, epoxies, urethanes, and other protective coatings, using spray guns, rollers, and brushes
- Measure and inspect coating thickness using gauges and testing tools
- Operate and maintain blasting and painting equipment, performing routine cleaning and maintenance, and reporting or repairing any equipment malfunctions
- Follow all OHS procedures, including with the handling of hazardous materials
- Wear and maintain required PPE
- Inspect completed work for defects, runs, sags, or improper coverage, ensuring your work meets client and project specifications
- Complete any required documentation and reporting
PAY RATE
ABN Dayshift: $50ph + Overtime / Nighshift $60ph + Overtime
PAYG Dayshift: $41ph + Overtime / Nighshift $51ph + Overtime
SELECTION CRITERIA
- Professional Industrial Painting and/or Abrasive Blasting experience is MANDATORY
- Cert 3 Surface Preparation & Coating is desirable
- A competent user of an airless spray gun
- MUST hold a Construction Whitecard
- Must have full working rights in Australia
- Must be able to work effectively and at a good pace on your own and in a team and according to deadlines
- Must possess own PPE
- Effective English communication skills
- Adherence to OHS procedures
- A current CV with one recent, professional reference
